Can I take a leave to care for a child over 18 years of age?

Maybe. In order to take FMLA leave to care for your adult child, they must be incapable of self-care due to a disability and you must be needed to care for them because of a serious health condition.  Medical documentation must be submitted and approved before your leave can be approved for a child over the age of 18.
