What is the Public Service Loan Forgiveness Program (PSLF)?

The Public Service Loan Forgiveness Program (PSLF) is a federal government program that forgives the remaining balance on your direct student loans after you have made 120 qualifying monthly payments under specific repayment plans while working full-time for a qualifying employer.  UAB and UAB Hospital are qualified employers.

For more on information or to see if you qualify visit:

All PSLF Forms should be emailed to humanresources@uab.edu

  • Remember to remove Social Security numbers prior to submitting
  • Allow 3-5 business days for the form to be processed and emailed back
  • This is a federal government program, not a UAB program.

For additional assistance visit or contact the HR Records Administration department.

Note: UAB has a grade forgiveness program University Grade Forgiveness Policy. Sometimes the programs are confused.
