HR I-9 Process: How long do I have to complete the I-9 Process?

HR I-9 Process:

UAB uses an electronic I-9/E-Verify process for all new campus hires. It is critical that we comply with Federal hiring requirements. The I-9 form has two sections. You complete the first section in the system, on your own. There is a provision for using a translator. The second section is completed by an approved department representative.

Section 1 of the I-9 must be completed NO LATER THAN the first day of work.

Section 2 must be completed by an Approved Department Representative NO LATER THAN two business days after the first day of work and approved/submitted by HR Records no later than 3 business days after the first day of work.

If you have questions about the I-9 process, contact the UAB HR Service Center or UAB Records Administration.

Why do I have to complete an I-9? To verify eligibility to work in the United States. See US Citizen and Immigration Services
