What is the Employee Health Department at UAB?
UAB Employee Health provides occupational health related services for UAB employees. If your job requires it, you may work with Employee Health for pre-employment physicals, vaccines, tuberculosis (TB) skin tests, N95 fit tests and more.
What services does Employee Health provide?
- Pre-employment physicals, vaccines
- Leave processing (medical documentation support)
- Needlestick and other exposure to blood and bodily fluids response
- Orientation and in-service education and training
Needlesticks, blood and bodily fluid exposures
A "Needlestick Team" RN is on call after hours for evaluation of needle sticks and other exposures to blood or body fluids. The Needlestick Team can be reached by calling UAB Paging at 934-3411.
How is Employee Health involved in leave of absences?
Employee health is involved at the front and back end of the medical leave process. Employee health receives and processes medical documentation for leaves. If you are requesting a leave of absence for medical reasons, part of the process is providing health care provider medical certification forms. Completed forms can be sent to UAB Employee Health at medleavesdocs@uabmc.edu or faxed to 205-975-6900. Employee Return to Work
Following a medical leave of absence, employees will send a completed leave of absence return to work form to the Employee Health Department.
