5. Why is UAB moving exempt employees to a nonexempt status?

UAB is making required exemption status adjustments to maintain compliance with the U.S. Department of Labor (DOL) regulation changes for the minimum salary threshold for exempt employees. The DOL is raising the minimum salary threshold from its current minimum of $35,568 to the new minimum of $43,888 effective July 1, 2024.
