Why is senior leadership approval required for a missed time off request?

A:  To comply with Governmental Accounting Standard Board (GASB)  accounting rules, UAB is required to report all accrued time off liabilities (Vacation, Sick and PH) in its financial statements.  Changes to closed accounting periods should be infrequent in nature to allow for the proper calculation of the related reliability and should be reviewed and approved by senior leadership to exhibit with the institution’s time and attendance reporting policy.
