What is the Employee Transfer Process?

In order to be eligible for transfer to a new position within UAB, an employee must:

  • Been in their current position for at least twelve (12) months
  • Completed probationary period:
    • Initial six (6) months for new hires
    • Ninety (90) day for employee who previously transferred to current role
  • Not received a written warning, suspension or imposed probation within the past twelve (12) months
  • Meets or exceeds the minimum qualifications listed in the job posting. 

If the employee meets the eligibility requirements above, then the following steps should be taken:  

  • Employees are encouraged to inform their current manager of their interest in a transfer.  
  • The Staffing Specialist will then contact your departmental HR Consultant to verify that the employee's eligibility 
  • If eligible, Staffing Specialists will forward resume to hiring manager
  • If the hiring manager makes an offer to the employee, the HR Consultant will work with the hiring manager to structure the offer.
